PRODUCT : PARADOX NUMBER : 525
VERSION : Paradox 1.1 and 2.0
OS : DOS
DATE : September 3, 1992 PAGE : 1/2
TITLE : Multi-Table View in version 1.1 and 2.0
The following steps will allow you to emulate Multi-Table Forms
in versions 1.1 and 2.0 of Paradox.
1. Set up a query that links the two tables involved, and
CHECKMARK all pertinent fields. Process the query and make
sure that the ANSWER table has the structure desired.
2. Press [F10] Scripts/QuerySave and name the script.
3. Rename your ANSWER table to QDUMMY using
Tools/Rename/Table.
4. Design the display Form you wish your operator to use when
viewing the renamed ANSWER table.
5. Press [ALT-F8] to clear the work area.
6. Select Script/Play, then enter the name of the previously
saved script. Press [F2] to process the query, which will
result in a new ANSWER table.
7. Begin the Instant Script Record by pressing [ALT-F3].
8. Select Tools/Copy/JustFamily to rename the answer table
from step 3 to the new answer table. This will copy all
the forms and reports you may have created on the QDUMMY
table.
9. Press [ALT-F3] to stop the Instant Script Record.
10. The two separate scripts can easily be joined into one
script by selecting Script/Editor/Edit and selecting the
QuerySave script.
11. Move to the end of the script below where you will see
ENDQUERY, type in Do_It!.
12. Select [F10] Read and type in INSTANT. The instant script
you just made will be included in the query script. So,
now when you play your query save, all the steps necessary
to bring up your form will be automatically performed.
